Vocalist and also host of the game SINGO
Dianne Chavarria has been entertaining for retirement homes, hospitals, women’s clubs and senior organizations all over Southern California for 20 years now.
She started singing at a very young age. Her mother played piano by ear and loved to sing. Her two brothers and her sister also love to sing. She was in school choirs since age 12 and continued with her love of music through high school. In her junior and senior years, the choir was selected to participate in the Battle of the Bands at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring the works of such artists as Bobby Troupe and Lalo Shifrin. After high school, Dianne put her musical career on hold to work and eventually marry and raise a family. In 1993, she decided it was time to get back into doing one of the things she loves most….singing. She joined a country band called “Midnite Brood“, and was with them for 4 ½ years, performing at numerous nightclubs, casinos, fairs and many Concerts in the Park for various cities throughout the Southland.
In 1996, she decided to forge in a new direction, and took solo stage to perform at retirement homes, senior centers, women’s clubs, etc. “Although I love country music, doing this allows me to sing tunes by all different kinds of artists, such as Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Barbara Streisand, to name a few, and still also do well-loved country songs by Patsy Cline, Wynonna and others.” Also, she does shows with themes such as Hawaiian tunes for luaus, patriotic songs for July 4th, Memorial Day and Labor Day, Christmas and other holidays and special occasions. She has been doing this successfully for over 16 years now. “I love to sing every chance I get. If the audience knows the songs and sings with me, that’s great. I also love to see them dancing and enjoying the music. I like to leave knowing we had a great time together.”
In March 1999, along with continuing her solo act, Dianne joined up with Rick Turner to form a duo called “MainStream“, performing many different venues of music. They played various types of music, including country, oldies but goodies, 50’s and 60’s rock and roll, etc. They were together over 4 years.
In January of 2011 Dianne also started hosting a 1-hour game called Singo, which is played like Bingo, but with music. It is a lot of fun, and there are prizes at the end of each game. There is an Oldies but Goodies version, a Mitch Miller version, and a Christmas version of the game.
In March of 2015 Dianne also developed a fun game using well-known English proverbs, and it is called Perfect and Playful Proverbs. this is also a 1-hour game. The first part of the game the players try to finish the correct ending to several proverbs. The second half of the game, the players finish the proverbs with funny answers. it is a great thinking game and loads of fun.
