A proverb is a saying that usually pertains to many of “life’s lessons” and have definite meanings.

This game is one hour long. For the first part of the game, I will give only the first part of a famous proverb, such us thinking-smiley“you can lead a horse to water ……….”. The players must fill in the rest of the proverb as close to “perfect” as possible. After about 20 minutes, I will give the correct endings to the proverb, and whoever gets the most correct will win a prize. There will be first, second, and third place prizes.

The second half of the game, I will read off the first part of a proverb, and the players must fill in comical, or “playful” answers, such as “it’s always dark-est…….” and someone might answer “before Daylight Savings Time”. Or, “a miss is as good as……” and someone might answer “a mister”. This part of the game is very “playful” and fun, and we are always sure to get some hilarious variations to our normal, life’s lessons proverbs.

This is a great thinking game and one that is sure to delight the players. I have an abundance of well-known proverbs, so if we played the game again at another time, I would do a completely different set for future games.
